Call for entries - Emerging Artists Exhibition
Profile:
I am a watercolour artist who lives in Brackley. I have been painting for about 11 years now — beginning my painting career at an Art course here in the Town Hall. Initially I concentrated on painting Christmas and Birthday cards for friends and family; then when my confidence grew I tried bigger and harder subjects.
My main subjects are flowers and architecture. I love the vibrancy of flowers and the thought of bringing colour into people’s lives through my paintings. My first real challenge was a painting of The Queen's College in Oxford. My son Andy went there for three years and for his 21st Birthday I decided to paint the college. It turned out so well that I went on to produce prints for other college members and also greetings cards. I had one auctioned for the College charity which felt so good to help others through my painting.
Through my painting career I have had great support from my husband Tim and sons Andy and Dave. They have become great art critics and tell me if something isn't working. I am a real family person and working from home whilst bringing them up worked for me. I had my dream come true of having a studio in my home when we converted one of the bedrooms into my studio.
