Call for entries - Emerging Artists Exhibition
Profile: I have always loved painting and followed it with passion thought my life including A' levels, Art Foundation and have a Degree in Fine Art. I finished university in 1995 and have continued painting ever since; the majority of my work has been for private buyers although I have done several commissioned pieces for corporate clients. When undertaking commissions for specific spaces I prefer to visit and observe the surroundings in order to visualise the finished work, taking into account the atmosphere, lighting, colours and ambiance of peoples houses.
I work with several different mediums to create colourful abstract creations on canvas, using acrylic, tissue paper, thickened gesso, bleach and metallic dusts. I genererally start with the colours I wish to use to cover the canvas, then I will often use coloured tissue paper to build up depth and texture, repeating the process to conclusion. I produce paintings that are eye-catching, original and vibrant. My pieces are richly textured and overflow with colour; I am constantly mixing and matching to find a balance of colour, depth and surface texture. I consider my work complete only when I am no longer visually distracted by any elements within the canvas.
