Call for entries - Emerging Artists Exhibition
Profile: I have worked in various forms of design for over 20 years. Originally beginning my career as a draftsperson in the Embroidery Industry in Nottingham; later changing my pencil for the computer as layout and publicity artist for staff and student newspapers for The Open University prior to ending my career with the university as Events and Exhibitions Manager which involved design for exhibition materials and stands. I then went onto work for The National Trust as Marketing and Press Officer for the Aylesbury Vale Group, where amongst other things produced artworks for various publicity materials.
I became interested in ceramic painting just over two years ago. I work with ceramics using plain fired bisque as my canvas. The bisque I use comes in various forms; from plates, tiles and vases to every day items such as mugs and tea pots.
The majority of my work is based on images of people; facial representations in black or black and grey and using the cream bisque background - creating the picture with what I don't paint with as much as what I do paint.
Commissions: I take commissions, painting faces of family, friends, pets and favourite icons of screen and music. Please visit my website (see below) to view a few more examples of my work or alternatively email for a catalogue which I will email to you in pdf format.Workshops:I also hold a variety of workshops for both adults and children. I am also available for children's ceramic parties.
