I am a self taught artist and prefer to learn by my own mistakes than having others point them out to me! This really stems from failing my GCSE in art, all those years ago. I really didn’t see the point of painting a subject that I wouldn’t want to hang on my own walls. It did take me 20 odd years to get around to picking up a paint brush again and learning to do ‘my own thing’.
Like all artists I am very influenced by my own life and the subject matter around me. My teenage sons have directed me into my campervan, skateboarding and snowboarding paintings. Let’s hope page 3 girls aren’t next.
My home and studio is in the countryside and surrounded by sheep, hence my other influence. I also keep the usual household pets, but a few more than most people. Three dogs, cats, chickens, ferrets and a tortoise, to name but a few.
I love to take my art into craft fairs, as well as exhibitions and to get to know people who are my customers. Humour is so important to us all which is why I work to my ‘Enjoy your Walls’ philosophy. I do like to see people smile when they look at my paintings
